The Truth

INTRO BY A.D. Cook

Most lately, I’ve been working with my friend and mentor (and contributor to this website) Frank Mallinder on his particular project, his workbook titled LIVING YOUR EXCEPTIONAL LIFE.

His forthcoming book covers a lot of ground, enabling you to gain clarity on what is possible in life when you document and live your mission, activate your ability to live in a way that is consistent with your talents and build your ability to challenge yourself to live an exceptional life consistently.

I asked Frank if I could share the last page of his book, a story he penned years ago, and he kindly agreed. So, with that, please enjoy the following, and stay tuned for updates.

THE TRUTH by Frank Mallinder

There once was born, time and time again, a magical child that had all the power the Divine could bestow on anyone. To keep his power, he had to find the truth.

His mother said, “Listen to me and do it this way because I am your mother and I love you. I know the truth.”

However, it never quite felt like it fit. And the child’s power began to diminish.

His father said, “Listen to me. I know the truth because I have had a tough life. Look how successful I am. I must go, but I will have time to finish this important talk with you when I get home.”

However, it never quite felt like it fit. And the child’s power continued to diminish.

His teachers said, “This is how you must do things to get good grades. Listen to us because we know the truth, especially because we have read all these books and are the experts.”

However, it never quite felt like it fit. And the child’s power continued to diminish.

At work, all his bosses told him they knew the truth, and if he would listen to them, he would go far. He would have more money and power than he could handle.

However, it never quite felt like it fit. And the child’s power continued to diminish.

He attended church after church, and in each one, the clergy told him, “Listen to me, for I know what God has in mind for you, and I am sure it is the truth.”

However, it never quite felt like it fit. And the child’s power continued to diminish.

As his life continued, he grew weary of searching for the truth. He repeatedly asked his ego for help finding the truth, and the ego always responded, “If only you would acquire such and such, you will know the truth.”

However, it never quite felt like it fit. And the child’s power continued to diminish.

One day, in a conversation with a wise coach, the coach asked him, “What is in your heart? For that is where you will find your truth.”

When the child finally turned to his heart for the truth, it whispered in his ear, and for the first time, it felt right, like a perfect fit.

All of the child’s power was unleashed!
