At The Ilumina Residential Resort Community
The newly opened Lexie’s Bistro set within the Ilumina Residential Resort Community is filling a void for upscale dining for the Inspirada, Anthem and Seven Hills neighborhoods in West Henderson.
Named for owner Winnie Schulman’s six-year-old granddaughter, décor elements include artwork featuring birds and owls, Lexie’s favorite animals. There are also woodgrain flooring; large windows allowing natural light; an open kitchen; a patio with seating for more than 60 equipped with a fire pit, couches, heaters, fans, and misters; a soundproof private room with seating for 40+; and a 23-seat bar with 15 gaming setups.
The menu has something for everyone, with a mix of Italian and American favorites. Highlights of the All Day and Lunch menus include Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with pepitas and olive oil; Charred Vegetable Wrap with eggplant, alfalfa sprouts, and pesto aioli; Ranch Burger enhanced with a whiskey-bacon jam made with Nevada-based Frey Ranch Rye; Brick Chicken with arugula and charred lemon; Rigatoni Alla Rosa with vodka sauce, mozzarella, and basil; Risotto con Capesante with U10 scallops, mushroom and roasted tomato risotto; Affogato with vanilla gelato and espresso; and Traditional Cannoli with whipped ricotta.
Not surprisingly, little ones aren’t left out. The Little Owls menu for ages 12 and under has kid favorites like Grilled Cheese & Fries, Cheeseburger & Fries, Quesadilla & Fries, Cheese or Pepperoni Pizza, and Chicken Strips & Fries, all priced from $8-$10.
Brunch served Fri.-Sun. from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., offers delights like Greek Avocado Toast with feta; Focaccia French Toast with house-made focaccia, butterscotch syrup and powdered sugar; Italian Breakfast Pizza with scrambled eggs, prosciutto and Italian sausage; Short Rib Hash with poached egg, diced potatoes, peppers and onions; and Tableside Mimosa Experience: a bottle of prosecco and a variety of juices.
Other nods to Lexie are the best-selling cocktail: a version of an Old Fashioned called Owl Fashioned with Frey Ranch Rye, house-made rosemary syrup, and orange bitters, and the Lovely Lexie with grapefruit rose vodka, house-made elderflower liqueur, lemon, and soda. The beverage list also includes some quality whiskies like High West Bourbon and WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye; a reasonably priced, well-rounded wine list with 20 by-the-glass options starting at $8; and a mix of regional and local beers such as CraftHaus Resonate IPA.
Other enticements are live music on Fri. & Sat. alternating each week with a singer and instrumentalist; and Social Hour in the bar area Mon.-Thu. 3-6 p.m. with $5 drafts, rotating $5 cocktails, $8 house wine, Caprese or Cheeseburger Sliders for $10, Prosciutto or Short Rib Sliders for $12, and a Pizza and bottle of wine deal for $32 (available all day Mon-Thu).
You wouldn’t be blamed for assuming the majority of the guests are Ilumina residents making the short walk from their abodes, but after being open for six months the numbers show those from the nearby West Henderson neighborhoods are in the majority, appreciating having a non-chain upscale, classy, family-focused eatery with quite reasonable prices not situated in a casino. It’s also easy to get to with well-marked signage leading you to your dining destination.
Lexie’s Bistro is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
