Two Beer Events on Super Bowl Saturday
If you’re like most football fans, on Feb. 9, you’ll be watching the Super Bowl. But what about the day before? Fortunately for beer fans, there are two beer-worthy events to choose from on Feb. 8, or if you’re truly ambitious, the timing is such that you could attend both.
CraftHaus Comrade Day
CraftHaus Brewery, located within the Henderson Booze District, will host the 11th annual Comrade Day, its annual unveiling of its very potent Russian Imperial Stout and several of its variants. Each year, there is a theme, and this year, it’s Hawaiian, with one of the tasting flights featuring four beers infused with flavors you’d associate with the islands: Kona Coffee and Macadamia Nut, Hawaiian Sweet Roll, Ube, and Coconut. There will also be a prix fixe meal pairing option from local favorite Hapahaole’s Hawaiian Street Tacos food truck.
There will be three two-hour seatings: 12:30-2:30, 3:00-5:00, and 5:30-7:30. The cost is $45 per person, which includes a tasting flight of four Comrade Imperial Stout variants (either the aforementioned Hawaiian-themed, or Comrade 2021, 2022 and two barrel-aged versions), an 8 oz pour of this year’s 11.2% Comrade Stout, an opportunity to experience a “spiked” beer from a Bierstachelen (traditional German hot fire poker plunged into the beer creating caramelization and a creamy frothy head) and a keeper logo glass. There are also several add-ons available. For more info and to purchase tickets, click here.
Ahern Hotel SUPER BEER Festival
Ahern Hotel at 300 West Sahara just west of the Vegas Strip has its aptly named SUPER BEER festival from 1-5 p.m.
There will be all-you-can-drink beer from several local breweries, live music, a complimentary photobooth and a chance to win prizes. What’s Pouring in January
HUDL Head Brewer Joe Cuozzo says we’ll have to wait till the end of January for his 7.8% Imperial Pistachio Cream Ale. It should be worth the wait, as it’s brewed with 6-row and 2-row barley, flaked corn, and lactose and flavored with Amoretti Artisan Pistachio Butter.

Lovelady Brewing Owner/Brewer Richard Lovelady has been busy over the holidays creating three beers for staggered release during January: Dirty Monkey Sour (January 10), a 5% banana kettle sour brewed with Dark Moon Coffee; 9.5% Big Horn(y) Baltic Porter (January 15 in taprooms only), aged on toasted oak, super smooth, with a little smoke and caramel; and Love Struck IPA (end of January), a 6.9% West Coast-style IPA with Citra and Simcoe hops.
Triple 7 Restaurant and Brewery (at Main Street Station) Brewmaster Casey Jacobson tells me they’ll be pouring his 2023 Scotch Ale through January/February and possibly into March. Also pouring will be the Belgian Blonde while it lasts, followed by a Bock.
Cin-Cin Brewhouse & Seafood Bar Brewmaster Cisco Talley has two new beers out. His Lao Lager is a rice lager that uses jasmine rice to give it a slightly sweeter and more floral taste. He also brewed a historic Polish smoked beer called Piwo Grodziskie. Light in color and low ABV, this style traditionally uses 100% oak smoked wheat malt and Polish hops, and Cisco’s rendition uses a touch of smoke malt and Polish hops to give it a fragrant, herbal, floral notes with light smoke.
