Feelin’ Continental

Driven by Design - Fueled by Passion

It’s no secret that I love cars, all kinds of vehicles — two wheels or four, I love them all. But of all the cars I love the most, I especially love cars with chrome, and the more chrome, the better.

That’s why when I visited the Gilbert Cars & Coffee car show a few months back, I fell in love with one car in particular—a stunning 1948 Lincoln Continental with miles of chrome. With all that bling, I had to snap a few pics, and one stood out as something I had to paint. I was immediately inspired.

It didn’t take long for me to start my latest project, a life-size hyperrealistic painting featuring the lavish grill of the Lincoln (still a work in progress at the time of this post). Little did I know then just how intense this painting would be. Over the next few months, I committed to creating my most epic hyperealism chrome artwork ever, delving deeper and deeper into the proverbial rabbit hole as I painted more reflections and details hidden within the chrome.

While my latest painting, CONTINENTAL, is still a ways from finished, it will be completed soon, just in time for its unveiling at the Las Cruces Museum of Art, the final venue for the LUSTER Exhibition (May 23 through August 16, 2025). Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the June 6th unveiling.

Join me and other LUSTER artists for a panel discussion on our art and processes on June 6th, hosted by Bryan Lee, Museum Curator of Education (Art)/Las Cruces Museum System/Quality of Life.
