America's Sports Car
It’s no secret that I love Corvettes. I have always loved them, and I suspect I will always love them. That’s why I photograph every Corvette I can at the local car shows; lately, I see Corvettes everywhere. So, given that I’ve shot hundreds of Vettes at car shows, at the National Corvette Museum, and as reference for my paintings, I thought I’d share a few pics with you here (scroll below), starting with the video above, with music by GC (Gate Citizens) featuring Emmillienne.
The video’s tune, while short, rocks! Coming in at only one minute and eight seconds, it captures the energy of the Corvette Stingray beautifully. Earlier this year, while I was creating my MOMENTUM paintings for the National Corvette Museum as part of the LUSTER: Realism and Hyperrealism in Contemporary Automobile and Motorcycle Paintings Exhibition, GC put together this original tune that I hoped to share at the museum’s VIP Opening Gala. Unfortunately, the timing was not in our favor, and we couldn’t put everything together in time for the March Gala in Bowling Green. It’s a cool tune, though, so thanks to GC for letting me share it here.
MOMENTUM is a diptych of two original paintings (CREATION, a Polo White 1953 Corvette, and EVOLUTION, a 2023 70th Anniversary C8 Stingray Z06 in Arctic White) created to display together or separately. Each canvas measures 48″ x 60″ for an impressive ten-foot span when displayed together. Currently on display at the National Corvette Museum through January 5, 2025. After its stay at the museum, it is offered for sale to add to a passionate collector’s home or office (click here for more information).
