Celebrating 16 Years on LinkedIn

Oh, How Time Flies

LinkedIn was launched just a few years before 2008, making it relatively new to the market. Curious, I created an account, filled out my profile, and started exploring the platform. That was 16 years ago. Oh, how time flies.

At first, I was curious to see what it had to offer at the time, and even now, all these years later, I still find myself intrigued by this platform.

There’s something about the professional atmosphere and the focus on networking that sets LinkedIn apart from other social media sites.

In fact, I often visit LinkedIn just to see what’s new and to connect with friends and clients who are also on the platform. Through connections I’ve made on LinkedIn, I’ve even landed a few job offers and new clients. It’s a great way to stay in touch with colleagues, discover new opportunities, and keep up-to-date with industry trends.

If you’re not leveraging this platform for your career or business, you’re missing out on a valuable tool for growth and development.

LinkedIn was officially launched to the public on May 5, 2003, but the idea for the platform began in 2002 in the living room of co-founder Reid Hoffman. Hoffman, a former PayPal Vice President, wanted to create a professional social networking site that would allow people to connect with others in their industry, share job opportunities, and build their professional network. The company was founded by Hoffman, Allen Blue, Eric Ly, Jean-Luc Vaillant, and Konstantin Guericke. By the end of 2003, LinkedIn had 81,000 users and secured a $4.7 million investment round from Sequoia Capital.
