An Evening at The Perch
I always enjoy catching up with my Las Vegas buddy (and fellow writer) Bob Barnes. Over the years, we have shared countless laughs and memorable moments, and our conversations often span a wide range of topics, from the latest books we’ve read to our aspirations as writers. However, since I moved to Phoenix just a few months ago, Bob and I have had precious little opportunity to catch up over a nice craft beer (or two), especially since Bob continues to call Las Vegas his home. This week, though, I was fortunate enough to have Bob visit my new hometown, and we finally carved out some well-deserved time for our catch-up session, which we both needed and thoroughly enjoyed.
When Bob first mentioned that he was visiting, he suggested we get together for dinner and a couple of great beers, strongly emphasizing the beer. “So long as wherever we go has great beer, I’m good,” Bob shared. “No worries,” I shared because I already had the perfect place in mind.
A few short years ago, while working on the Nevada Beer Quest brewspaper project and visiting the Phoenix Valley, I discovered a cool spot with fantastic beers and an excellent food menu to complement their tap selection. I enjoyed my first experience there so much that I stopped in again on a following trip, but since then, it’s been a while since I have savored the delicious nectar brewed in-house at The Perch Brewery in Chandler, Arizona. Despite my long-awaited gap between visits, I always remembered how much I enjoyed it. I have long remembered how much I enjoyed their fantastic selection of house-made drafts.
I also remembered the great birds, primarily parrots and cockatoos, that reside at The Perch Brewery. I’m happy to say that my memory served me well since the beer was even better than I remembered. They still have plenty of amazing birds to enjoy. And the food—top-shelf awesome!
Our experience was incredible, and our knowledgeable host and bartender, Cody, truly rocked the evening with his excellent suggestions and fantastic pours. From the moment we arrived, it was clear he was dedicated to ensuring we had a memorable time filled with exceptional service and delightful flavors. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Cheers!
Our Chandler brewery is proud to give birds a loving new home! Every year thousands of pet birds are abused, neglected, and abandoned. Many people purchase a pet bird because they want a unique pet, but fail to research what it takes to provide these amazing creatures the necessary care they need to thrive in captivity. We dedicate our time and energy to helping to rebuild trusting relationships with unwanted, abandoned, abused, and neglected pet birds and give them a loving forever home. We do not breed, buy or sell our rescue birds. Our primary goal is to provide a second chance and lots of love for these birds.
