Charity Car Show

With Summer nearly over and Autumn upon us, it’s car show season in the Phoenix Valley. To some degree, I may be exaggerating a bit regarding the season. Technically, the Autumnal Equinox was about a week ago, on September 22, but Arizona is still experiencing Summer heat, with today’s temps hitting 112 degrees (according to Weather.com). The Mesa Market Place provided an excellent venue to escape the heat with its covered public zones and soothing water misters, while enjoying the cars and chatting with fellow enthusiasts.

The first car show of the season had an excellent turnout. About seventy cars were displayed, and a friendly crowd of spectators and car lovers attended the show, which began at 9 AM and ran through 1 PM. The Arizona Mini Owners sponsored the free event in support of the Arizona Animal Welfare League. Visitors were encouraged to vote for their favorite car through cash donations via the plastic container near each vehicle. The winners were decided by who collected the most “votes” (cash donations) in their ballot boxes (collection jar). Five awards were given for various categories.

A large hand-made dog-themed quilt was also raffled off to support the Arizona Animal Welfare League’s to provide excellent care, protection, and loving compassion for the life of the animals entrusted to us and to take a leadership role in promoting humane values for the benefit of all animals and people.

DJ Eric from Electric Blue Entertainment rocked the day with a great selection of non-stop classic rock tunes.

While the car show is an annual event, the Mesa Market Place is open year-round, rain or shine, and conveniently located just off US-60 at the Signal Butte exit, and boasts a mile of diverse vendors with its four covered outdoor isles. Additionally, they feature music and entertainment every weekend, food vendors, and plenty of places to rest your feet and take in the day.
